Beautiful Things - Michael Gungor

All this pain
I wonder if I’ll ever find my way
I wonder if my life could really change at all
All this earth
Could all that is lost ever be found
Could a garden come up from this ground at all

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

All around
Hope is springing up from this old ground
Out of chaos life is being found in You

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

You make me new, You are making me new
You make me new, You are making me new
You are making me new

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

You make me new, You are making me new
You make me new, You are making me new

In the light of a senseless tragedy I was made aware of today, my heart is aching for people I don't even know.  I have held my family tighter and closer today, and I can only pray for those who are most directly affected by the incident, as they try to put the pieces of their lives back together.  I have no answers.  I just have knowledge of and relationship with a God who loves me and has called me to love others.  I can only hope and pray that something beautiful is made out of the dust along the way.

Today I am thankful for . . .

1062.  The gift of My Children, who are safe and sound in their beds tonight.

1063.  The gift of A Completed Skating Rink in our backyard.  Today was the boys' first chance to try out their new rink, which is bigger and better than ever before.

1064.  The gift of Hope in the One who was sent to save the world . . .

Isaiah 9:6-7

6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.

Thanks for a beautiful post, Kim! "Beautiful Things" is also one of my favorite songs. Someone on facebook posted the names and ages of everyone killed in that elementary school. It just made it even more real in my mind by putting names to it. It's so very sad. I just feel and pray for those parents and families of those who were killed. I'm so thankful for the peace we can receive through Christ.
