Cranes, Algebra and My Gut

Today I am thankful for . . .

281.  The gift of having a pair of Sandhill Cranes fly in front of me on my way to work this morning.  Cranes are magnificent birds.

282.  The gift of Mitchell's enthusiasm over his math assignments.  He recently began algebra-type questions, and he's loving it.  This is a huge relief to me, since algebra was a subject I didn't really "get" when I was in school.  He did four assignments today instead of just one, and I had nothing to do with it.  He is enjoying the work so much that he wants to just keep working and working and working on it.

283.  The gift of Following My Gut on making some changes to the boys' English-Language Arts program, this late in the year.  They have a new-found enthusiasm for ELA since I have altered their "regular programming."
