Seeing Red

Today I am thankful for . . .

212.  The gift of Red Nail Polish.  I bought a new dress for the WOW event last night, and the fabric is quite colourful in parts, which includes the colour red; therefore, I painted my nails red to compliment the outfit; the only thing lacking was a pair of red shoes, which would have looked fabulous with the dress.  However, I didn't have time to go shoe-shopping before the event, so I opted to wear my least-favourite-shoes, which also happen to be the only shoes I own that match the dress.  Back to the red nail polish - I have to take it off before tomorrow morning . . . if I wear it around my Hutterite students, they'll just beg me to paint their nails the same colour, and I don't think that would go over too well with their parents.

213.  The gift of Store Policies that Account for Mishaps.  Today I went to WalMart to buy nail polish remover, in order to remove the aforesaid red nail polish . . . we didn't get a cart for our purchases, and therefore I was trying to manage things in my two hands, which, apparently, aren't capable of holding a whole lot without a disaster occurring.  The nail polish remover fell, hit the floor, and spilled all over the hardwood.  The top of the lid broke off completely . . . I couldn't even find the piece that broke off, but there was nail polish remover EVERYWHERE.  It wasn't a pretty sight.  I offered to pay for the damaged bottle, but the clerks assured me that it was "just an accident" and not to worry - no charge.  Maybe they have insurance for that sort of thing?  I'm not sure.

214.  The gift of Sunshine and Puddles.

Love the red nail polish, Kim! Glad the event went so well. Any pictures of you with your new dress?
