Close to Home . . . Close to my Heart

Yesterday I took my boys to my parents' place for
the evening while Wayne and I attended our
church Christmas banquet. Upon my arrival, my
mom shared some shattering news with me that
has affected many families in my small hometown.
A mom and six teenage boys were travelling to a
basketball game after school and were involved in
a horrific accident. The following are articles retrieved
from a local news website. You can read the details
for yourself, but I am requesting your prayers
for these families, as well as the residents of my
hometown. My heart goes out to everyone affected
by this huge loss.

After hearing the news, I'm holding my own boys just
a little bit closer and a little bit tighter.

Print

A tragic accident involving several area teens
has left one family grieving this holiday season.

Around 4:30 yesterday afternoon, a van was
crossing Highway 11 at the entrance to Osler
when it was hit by a southbound 3 ton truck.

There were 7 people in the van, all from
Borden including a 42 year woman and 6
young male passengers. Two of the passengers
were thrown from the van and one of them,
a 15 year old, died at the scene.

Two 15 year olds, two 17 year olds and a
16 year old have been taken to hospital. The
driver of the truck was not hurt.

Second Teenager Dies After Osler Crash

The four remaining teenagers who were in a van
that was struck by a three ton truck near Osler
on Thursday are recovering.

One of the teenagers is said to be in a medically
induced coma to help in his recovery.

In the meantime, Borden is mourning the loss
of two other teenagers.

16-year-old G.S. passed away while
in a Saskatoon hospital on Friday.

15-year-old S.S. died on scene.

Oh Kimmy, this is such sad news. I will keep everyone in my prayers too. I cannot even fathom what they must be going through.

I made my daughter leave from work early last night because we were getting an ice storm. I wanted her home before it got too bad. She was not happy with me in the slightest, but I'd rather have her mad at me and home safe and sound then....

Thank you for letting us know. You're still in my prayers too.
