Giving Up on Watering

Today I am thankful for . . .

743.  The gift of Encouragement from My Family when I bake something new.  Since I've been testing out new cheesecake recipes for a contest I'm entering, we've been (willingly) eating a lot of cheesecake.  I'm going to have to put the rest into the freezer, because there is no way we're going to be able to consume this all before it goes bad.  Well, I guess we could, but we'd be eating cheesecake for breakfast, cheesecake for lunch and cheesecake for supper.  Even I couldn't do that!

744.  The gift of A Long Weekend.  We have no plans for this weekend, other than going to church on Sunday and getting some little end-of-summer jobs done around here.

745.  The gift of Giving Up on Watering.  It is the last day of August . . . now the plants in my yard are going to have to fend-for-themselves because I don't have time anymore to water them all with jugs of rainwater (that's what I've done all summer and it's quite time-consuming) and I won't be dead-heading any of the flowers either.  I actually think I might start removing some plants from containers since many of them have been experiencing a slow death this past week and they are definitely not looking well.

Yay for #745! Sept. 1 marks the end of watering our lawn and flowers in the front bed! However, I will still water my mini-garden, since it is still producing veggies. Anyway, I am looking forward to a lower water bill next month. It has been hot and dry down south!
